About Us
Heritage Woodwork was officially started in 2014. However, in 2008, Jason was asked to build a 17' x 20' timber frame shed. It turned into a 5000 sq. ft barn that turned into a bed and breakfast. It has a gourmet kitchen, five bathrooms including a stand-alone copper tub, a school room, an apartment, including carriage house garage doors.
Heritage Woodwork has a wonderful crew that enjoys building quality high end products that will last for generations to come.
The Early 1800s Log Cabin
In 2020, Heritage Woodwork was hired to remodel a kitchen and bathroom in an early 1800s log cabin. Upon further inspection it was noticed that the chinking was not installed using the correct mortar or techniques. The chinking was not allowing that water to flow off the cabin and it was causing the logs to rot.
When digging further into the structure it was noticed that the foundation was not supporting the main structures exterior walls, instead the foundation was under the first-floor joist.
Once this was discovered we discussed with our clients' different options. They decided to completely rebuild and restore the cabin.
The cabin was carefully dismantled, by numbering and tagging each component so it would go back in the exact place it was removed from. As a new foundation was constructed, replacement logs were harvested from the property, and were hand hewed using tradition techniques, alongside our clients, family, and friends.
The cabin was reconstructed piece by piece using original materials, materials from the property, and adding modern day touches. Every space of the cabin was thoughtfully designed to have no wasted space. The cabin is now enjoyed by family, friends, and large groups.
